Amid the investigation into corruption cases related to the functions and authorities of North Sumatra Provincial DPRD period 2009-2014 and / or 2014-2019, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) finds sufficient initial evidence to establish 38 people as suspects.

They are members of North Sumatra Legislative Council (DPRD) period 2009-2014 and / or 2014-2019, ie RST, RSI, RMP, FN, ABT, EML, MYS, MFL, DHM, BPU, REN, SFE, RDP, ANN, MSF, SSN, AZU, TSI, TOS, MEV, DES, ARM, SHP, RKS, WP, JHS, FST, TS, FRO, TAG, TIR, HEI, MSI, SF, PD, ELD, MDH, and TMP.

Those 38 suspects as members of North Sumatra Legislative Council (DPRD) period 2009-2014 and / or 2014-2019 allegedly received a gift or promise from Gatot Pujo Nugroho as Governor of North Sumatra Province, when it is known or reasonably suspected that the gift or promise is given because or associated with something which is contrary to the obligation, done or not done in his position or to move in order to do or not to do something in his/her position that is contrary to his/her obligation related to the implementation of function and authority as a member of DPRD of North Sumatra Province.

For their actions, the 38 suspects allegedly violated Article 12 point a or b or Article 11 of Law Number 31 Year 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 Year 2001 jo. Article 64 paragraph (1) and article 55 paragraph (1) to-1 of the Criminal Code.

Previously, in this case the Commission has determined 12 of leaders and Chairman of the DPRD DPRD DPRD period 2004-2009 and / or 2014-2019 as suspects in 2015 and 2016. They are 5 leaders of DPRD North Sumatra Province, namely SB (Chairman of the DPRD period 2009 - 2014), KH (Vice Chairman of DPRD period 2009-2014), CHR (Vice Chairman of DPRD period 2009-2014), SPA (Vice Chairman of DPRD period 2009-2014), and AJS (Vice Chairman of DPRD period 2009-2014). 7 Chairman of the fraction of North Sumatra DPRD, namely MA, BPN, GUM, ZES, BHS, ZH, and PES.

The twelve men are currently serving their respective sentences after being convicted by a judge of the Corruption Court of Medan Court with an average sentence of 4 to 6 years in prison. Similarly, the Governor of North Sumatra as a giver has been sentenced to 4 years criminal and a fine of Rp 250 million subsidair 6 months as a decision of the Court of Appeal that reinforces the first level decision in question.
