Jakarta, 17 June 2020. The Corruption Eradication Commission officially opens registration for the 2020 Anti-Corruption Journalism Academy program. The Anti-Corruption Journalism Academy is a five-day intensive training scholarship program that will be filled with educational materials needed to publish issues pertaining to corruption eradication.

The KPK accepts registration for the 2020 Anti-Corruption Journalism Academy for one month, from 15 June to 15 July 2020.

This program aims to increase the public capacity regarding the issue of corruption. The next goal is to increase public participation in the eradication of corruption alongside with the KPK by publishing corruption eradication issues.

The Anti-Corruption Journalism Academy will be attended by 30 selected participants from various backgrounds, namely journalists, citizen journalists, communities, and academicians from all over Indonesia. One of the requirements to be a participant is to have published an article/work related to the corruption eradication issue in mass media, social media, or other digital platforms.

The KPK launched this program by hosting a Webinar titled "Understanding Oligarchy, Aspects of State Administration, Economy, and Politics of Corruption Eradication". The discussion was held online and featured KPK Commissioner Alexander Marwata, Former Chair of the Department of Political Science North Western University Jeffrey Winters, Journalist and Founder of Narasi TV Najwa Shihab, UGM Constitutional Law Expert Zainal Arifin Mochtar, and economist Faisal Basri.

"The public needs to be presented with basic knowledge regarding the causes and impact of corruption as well as how to monitor them together," said Alexander Marwata at the opening of the 2020 Anti-Corruption Journalism Academy.

He said that the public should be asked to understand the causes and impact of corruption from various angles such as politics, law. and economy. They also need to know the importance of recognizing products of journalism that can be trusted as reliable sources of information.

In the 2020 Anti-Corruption Journalism Academy program, the KPK will provide scholarships worth Rp 3,500,000 for each of the 30 selected participants. In addition, the KPK will also bear all accommodation cost for the participants during the training as well as the round-trip transportation cost for the participants. After the training, participants will be required to submit a final project. The three participants with the best final projects will receive a cash prize.

The KPK expects that through this program, the public can better understand the issue of corruption and corruption eradication as well as participate in corruption eradication by making journalistic works and publishing them.
