Jakarta, 27 July 2020. Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) granted an asset in the form of a 53-hectare tract of land (or 534,154 meter square) to the Indonesian Army. The asset was worth IDR 20.02 billion. The handover ceremony was held at the Indonesian Army Headquarters.

Firli Bahuri, KPK Commissioner, personally handed over the asset to General Andika Perkasa, the Indonesian Army’s Chief of Staff, during the ceremony.

Firli Bahuri said that the asset was granted to the Indonesian Army in order to maximize the utilization of state assets as part of KPK’s asset recovery function.

“This asset handover is also a manifestation of our accountability to the public. It shows that all assets that we have seized from corruptors must be returned to the state to be used for better purposes,” said Firli Bahuri.

Administratively, that tract of land is located in two villages, namely (1) Cirangkong Village, Cijambe District, Subang Regency, West Java Province, and (2) Kumpay Village, Jalan Cagak District, Subang Regency, West Java Province. The Indonesian Army said that they have not yet decided what to do with this land.

KPK seized this asset from Police Inspector General Djoko Susilo, now already a convict, and this action had obtained permanent legal force.

The Indonesian Army has not yet found how to make the best use of this land. General Andika Perkasa said that it might be used for the Army’s Field Artillery or Air Defence Artillery. He explained that both artillery divisions are related to main equipment and weapon systems, so they might require a huge tract of land.

“Our current facilities are not sufficient, so we are very glad to receive this asset from KPK,” he said.
