Educators carry enormous responsibility on their shoulders. As role model, educators or teachers are required to have the ability to shape the characters of their students. It is specified in Nawacita, President Joko Widodo’s vision of Indonesia: “To revolutionize the nation’s character through a policy of restructuring the national education curriculum to improve the quality of Indonesians.”

The important role teachers play is also recognized by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), which has been implementing anticorruption education since 2005. KPK formulates anticorruption education modules for primary, secondary and tertiary educations, and involves the Ministry of Education and Culture in the process. It is manifested in the insertion of Civic Education (PKn) and Character Education (PK) in schools’ curriculum.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) handed a house on a piece of land in Surakarta, Central Java, to the city government in a procession on Tuesday (17/10). The properties are confiscated state assets from a corruption and money laundering case that will be transformed into cultural tourism spot.

KPK Commissioner Agus Rahardjo said, the land and the house did not belong to KPK. Those are state assets that had been confiscated by KPK in a process that has been given permanent legal force status.

Amid the political turmoil in Rome in 63 BC, Lucius Sirgius Catalina and Marcus Tullius Cicero was vying over the consul position, which was won by Cicero the year before. Catalina borrowed money from many sources after running out of cash to finance his campaign.

Catalina failed the candidacy but he did not stay put. He worked on a plot to murder several top senators and put the city to the torch. Cicero was aware of the conspiracy.

Before 600 senators of the Republic of Rome at the end of 63 BC, Cicero gave an oration to disclose Catalina’s plan. “When, O Catalina, do you mean to cease abusing our patience?” was his opening remark.
