KPK Commissioners today held an open discussion with the entire employees of KPK during the program Good Morning KPK at the Red and White Building in Jakarta, Friday (8/2).

With the theme “Solidity, Not Dainty”, the communication forum was aimed to improve the solidarity between KPK employees and their leaders. The discussion opened with messages, with KPK Chairman Agus Rahardjo asked every employee to never be afraid in the fight against corruption because the entire population await their work. He said he wanted the entire employees to be relentless despite all the hardship.

“Don’t give up! We have to stick together. We must refine our efforts to minimize or eradicate corruption from our country,” Agus said, adding that he hoped KPK can fulfill people’s wish for a corruption free Indonesia.

Deputy Commissioner Basaria Panjaitan said KPK must be adaptive and create changes rapidly because criminals move faster than law enforcers. “Their modus operandi keep changing. If we were static, we would be defeated,” she said.

During the discussion, KPK Deputy Commissioner Laode M. Syarif read a poem by poet Rahman Arge titled “Death in Glory”. It conveys the message for everyone not be afraid to die in nobility.

Menegakkan kelaki-lakianmu, lelaki-nya lelaki, peziarah dari nusantara.

(Uphold your manhood, your masculinity, pilgrims of the archipelago)

Kau lelaki, harus santun tapi tajam dalam berkata-kata.

(You’re a man, be courteous, but outspoken)

Kamu mampu berdiri di kemuliaan wanita.

(You must respect women’s honor)

Mencabut badik jika itu pilihan akhir.

(Pulling your dagger is the last resort)

Kelak jika kematian datang menjemputku, pilihlah mati, mati yang bersantan.

(For when death comes pick me up, choose death, choose glorious death)

Meanwhile, KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata said the challenges faced by KPK serve as reminder to always improve itself and become more solid. “Behind every challenge lies a blessing. The challenges we have been facing a while ago will improve our solidity,” Alex said.

He ensured the audience that KPK carried out necessary improvement measures to brace for more challenges in the future.

The discussion filled with feedbacks and criticisms from employees that were responded directly by KPK Commissioners. Such event is conducted regularly to increase solidity and open communication between the leadership and all employees.
