The resolution of the Novel case is a test for the sense of justice and conscience of law enforcers because, in fact, one of those law enforcers, namely a KPK employee, became a victim while handling major corruption cases.

Acting KPK spokesperson Ali Fikri said that the KPK hopes that the panel of judges would decide fairly and impose a maximum sentence in accordance with the wrongdoing and actions that will be proven later. "We ask the panel of judges to consider the public’s sense of justice," said Ali.

According to him, Novel Baswedan's position as a victim while carrying out his duties in handling corruption cases deserves to be considered. Ali added that the KPK understands Novel Baswedan's disappointment as the victim regarding the light prison sentence recommendation and considerations as well as the verdict of this case. "We have also heard the public’s disappointment about this."

Ali emphasized that through this incident the KPK also reiterates the importance of protection for law enforcers in carrying out their duties.
