Jakarta, 27 July 2020. Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) detained HA (a Director and Commissioner of PT SR) as a suspect in an alleged criminal act of corruption of offering gifts or promises in relation to the implementation of a project undertaken by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR).

The suspect HA was detained for 20 days from 27 July 2020 to 15 August 2020 at East Jakarta Class I Detention Centre of KPK’s Branch in the Red and White Building (KPK Headquarters).

This case began with the arrest of DWP, a member of Commission V of People’s Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) term 2014–2019, along with three other people, in Jakarta on 13 January 2016, with USD 99,000 taken as evidence. The money was part of the bribe given to secure a project undertaken by the Ministry of Public Works and Housing in Fiscal Year 2016.

KPK has gathered the facts of the matter, supported by evidence in the form of eyewitnesses’ testimonies as well as electronic mails and devices which indicate that the suspect HA and his co-conspirators gave money to a number of people. Those recipients included (1) AHM as the Head of BPJN IX Maluku and North Maluku who received IDR 8 billion in July 2015 and IDR 2.6 billion in August 2015 and (2) DWP as a DPR RI member term 2014–2019 who received IDR 1 billion in November 2015.

It was suspected that those bribes were distributed in relation to an infrastructure project undertaken by the PUPR Ministry.

Because of that action, HA was alleged to have violated Article 5 paragraph (1) point a or Article 5 paragraph (1) point b or Article 13 of Law Number 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1)-1 of the Indonesian Criminal Code.
