Jakarta, 19 August 2020. The Corruption Eradication Commission's Supervisory Board will hold an ethics hearing next week. This series of ethics hearings will be held for the first time since the KPK Supervisory Board was inaugurated on 20 December 2019.

"The enforcement of these ethical rules is one of the KPK Supervisory Board's duties to safeguard the institutions and values ​​existing within the KPK. We at the Supervisory Board are committed in performing these duties, and we hope that the public will also continue to supervise the KPK and the ongoing process," said KPK Supervisory Board Chairman Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean in his office, Wednesday, 19 August 2020.

A total of three people will undergo ethics hearings for three consecutive days on 24-26 August 2020. The ethics hearings will be held at the KPK Anti-Corruption Learning Center Building on Jalan HR. Rasuna Said Kavling C1, Setiabudi, Jakarta Selatan.

The first trial will be held on 24 August 2020 with YPH who was investigated with the suspicion of spreading false information. The suspect has allegedly violated the code of ethics and code of conduct "Integrity" in Article 4 paragraph (1) letter o KPK Supervisory Board Regulation No. 02 of 2020.

Furthermore, an ethics trial will be held on 25 August 2020 with FB who is investigated for allegedly using a helicopter during a private trip from Palembang to Baturaja. The suspect has allegedly violated the code of ethics and code of conduct "Integrity" in Article 4 paragraph (1) letter c or Article 4 paragraph (1) letter n or Article 4 paragraph (2) letter m and/or “Leadership” in Article 8 paragraph (1) letter f KPK Supervisory Board Regulation No. 02 of 2020.

Finally, an ethics trial will be held on 26 August 2020 with APZ investigated on suspicion of carrying out arrests at the Ministry of Education and Culture without coordination. APZ is suspected of having violated the code of ethics and code of conduct "Synergy" in Article 5 paragraph (2) letter a of KPK Supervisory Board Regulation No. 02 of 2020.

The implementation of this ethical hearing refers to the Regulation of the Corruption Eradication Commission Supervisory Board No. 3 of 2020 on the Procedures for Examination and Trials of Code of Conduct Violations and the Guidelines for the Corruption Eradication Commission's Behavior. Article 8 of the regulation stipulates that the trial of alleged ethical violations is held behind closed doors, while the reading of the decision will be done publicly. The investigated parties will also be given the opportunity to be assisted and to present relevant evidence at the trial process.
