Jakarta, 26 May 2020. The Corruption Eradication Commission has conducted several activities in carrying out its duties in accordance with the duties and authorities mandated in Article 37B of Law No.19 of 2019 concerning the Corruption Eradication Commission.

“Since inaugurated on 20 December 2019, until the beginning of May, we have carried out three big events, namely the preparation of infrastructure, the conducting of operational activities, and the monitoring and evaluation of the performance of the KPK Commissioners,” said the Head of KPK Supervisory Board, Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean.

Related to the duties of setting up the code of conducts and its enforcement, in about 4 months, the Supervisory Board has completed 3 regulations regarding the code of ethics, namely : KPK Supervisory Board Regulation Number 01 of 2020 concerning the Code of Ethics and the Code of Conduct for the Corruption Eradication Commission; KPK Supervisory Board Regulation Number 02 of 2020 concerning the Enforcement of the Code of Ethics and the Corruption Eradication Commission's Code of Conduct; and KPK Supervisory Board Regulation Number 03 of 2020 concerning the Procedures for Examination and Trial of Violations of the Code of Ethics and the Code of Conduct for Corruption Eradication Commission.

In order to make Supervisory Board effective in accordance with the Law, during the same period, it has completed 36 Standard Operational Procedures (SOP).

Another duty of the Supervisory Board is related to the granting or declining the permits for enforcement actions. Up to the beginning of May 2020, the Supervisory Board has accepted the requests and followed up on the granting of 183 permits consisting of 34 wiretapping permits, 15 search warrants, and 134 confiscation permits.

Due to the public report related to the alleged violations of the code of ethics by commissioners and members of KPK, and the monitoring of the conduct of duties and authorities of KPK, the Supervisory Body has also accepted and followed up 92 letters of complaint.

“In this case, we are grateful for the participation of the citizens who have continuously assisted us in doing our duties of supervising the conduct of KPK duties and authorities,” said Tumpak.

Also, related to the monitoring of the conduct of KPK duties and authorities, the Supervisory Board has held the Quarterly Coordination Meeting (Rakorwas) for the first quarter with the KPK Commissioners on 27 April 2020, which discussed 18 (eighteen) issues/matters. Overall, the 18 matters can be divided into 4 categories.

The first category is the Category of Enforcement in order to speed up the handling of cases from the preliminary investigation phase, investigation phase, prosecution phase, to the execution phase in order to optimize asset recovery and legal certainty.

The second category is the Category of Internal Supervisor and Public Complaints in order to strengthen the Internal Function as well as to harmonize the implementation of duties by the Supervisory Board and the Internal Supervision (PI).

The next category is the Category of Prevention in order to optimize the function of prevention especially in efforts to secure the assets of ministries/agencies and/or the Local Government. The last one is the Category of Secretariat General in order to improve the management of KPK Human Resources.

In addition to the Coordination Meeting (Rakorwas), the Supervisory Board also held KPK Commissioners’ Performance Evaluation Meeting for the First Quarter on 27 April and 5 May 2020 with the focus on evaluating the achievement of commissioners’ performance during the first 3 months of 2020.

The Supervisory Board will continue to carry out its duties and authorities in a transparent, professional, and accountable manner so that the citizens can also continue to participate in supervising and overseeing the work of KPK with the hope that the citizens will keep supporting the efforts in eradicating corruption for a clean-of-corruption Indonesia.
