Della is asked to watch her aunt’s luxurious house. She used the opportunity to boost her social media presence by uploading the pictures of every corner of the house—the swimming pool, the piano, and other spots to give impression that she was a rich young woman.

It works: most of her friends think she comes from a wealthy, successful family. They did not say no when Della invited them to a gathering at the house. The gathering becomes more frequent, and they were lured by Della to chip in for some “business investment”. The friends competed with one another to put bigger amount of money. When they expect to get the return of the investment, Della goes missing.

The story is the main plot of a short movie titled Blessed, from a participant of the Anti-Corruption Film Festival (ACFFest) 2018. The film was screened on Thursday (11/4) at the AJS Room of the University of Indonesia’s Faculty of Social and Political Sciences.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) also screened three other movies—Jimpitan (best film); A Piece of Responsibility (favorite film); and Subur is Honest. These four films were among the seven best scripts picked by the ACFFest 2018 to be made into short films.

The film screening and discussion featured Epi Handayani from KPK Campaign Team and Candra Aditya, the director of Blessed. Epi said KPK wished the public could absorb the values of integrity conveyed in the short films.

“The films contain the nine integrity values against corruption—honesty, care, independence, discipline, responsibility, modesty, bravery, fairness, and hard work,” he said.

Candra praised KPK’s effort to use film to campaign against corruption.

“Film is a powerful medium to influence people,” he said.

The event was aimed to reach out for the public and spread the messages of the films. Similar events will be held and involve universities, schools and film communities. KPK also planned to hold ACFFest this year and wished to gain feedback from the discussion.

Previously, the screening and discussion was held in Mataram (March 12-14) and Erasmus Huis Jakarta (March 27). It will continue in Banten and Semarang (April 23),

Medan (April 30), and Makassar (May 2). Wait for us in your city!
