Deputy Chair of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with President Director of PT Transportasi Jakarta Agung Wicaksono at the company’s office in East Jakarta, Tuesday (19/2).

KPK supports PT Transjakarta in its attempt to clean up its management system. With the MoU, KPK will assist PT Transjakarta to disseminate information on gratuity and state officials’ wealth report (LHKPN). The MoU signing was witnessed by Jakarta Inspector Michael Rolandi C. Brata.

Apart from information dissemination, KPK will provide technical assistance to division heads and department heads of PT Transjakarta, help form Gratuity Control Unit, and assist the issuance of gratuity and LHKPN regulation.

Agung Wicaksono said in his speech that he was aware the cleanup was not only about service improvement and fleet growth, but for the company to be better. Therefore, the company established the Internal Control Unit in September 2018, “as the first milestone to improve the system in PT Transjakarta,” Agus said.

It was not enough to establish a unit, he said, as the company requires a set of regulation as reference. That was why PT Transjakarta invited KPK to give assistance, he said.

The government allocated Rp3.2 trillion for PT Transjakarta, which according to KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata, was not a small figure. The company has huge responsibility in managing public money, he said.

“The money is owned by people and we have to repay them by providing good public service,” Alex said.

He added that since 2017, KPK had started to name corporation as corruption crime suspect. State-owned companies are subjects of corruption crime and can be charged, Alex said. The purpose was to force them to implement healthy business practice.

“We want to ensure corporations to comply with healthy competition principles,” Alex said.

Gratuity control and LHKPN submission are first steps in preventing corruption. Alex said he was hoping PT Transjakarta and other SOEs to issue detailed regulation on gratuity acceptance and LHKPN and implement good management system.
