The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) received the wealth report of Coordinating Minister for Politics, Justice and Defense, Moh. Mahfud M.D., which was sent to KPK’s office on Monday (Dec. 2).

“We appreciate the compliance as part of corruption prevention efforts,” said KPK Spokesperson Febri Diansyah.

Febri hoped the submission could become an example for other public officials. KPK is currently waiting for the wealth report of 11 other officials: six cabinet ministers, one government agency head, and four deputy ministers. These officials have until Jan. 20, 2020, or three months maximum after resuming their positions, to submit their reports. Other ministers and their deputies have complied with the rule and submit their reports periodically within Jan. 1, 2019 and March 31, 2019.

Moreover, Febri said that KPK has finished the discussion on the appointment of new officials within the circles of the President, Vice President and cabinet ministers, namely the special staff or expert staff.

Based on KPK’s review, if the staff are on the same position as Echelon I officials, then they are indeed public officials and must submit their wealth reports, according to Article 2 (7) and Explanation of Law No. 28/1999 on Clean Governance.

“We are also waiting for the wealth reports of the special staff,” Febri said.

He added that wealth report submission is part of prevention efforts that require every stakeholder’s support. Correct and timely submission is a form of the officials’ commitment to the public.

Submitting wealth report is much easier now through the website

https://elhkpn.kpk.go.id/, which also features tutorial video that explains the report and how to fill it out.

Febri said the electronic reporting is expected to raise public officials’ awareness and compliance in submitting the reports.

“Wealth transparency is a form of public officials’ accountability, and their commitment to prevent corruption,” he said.
