Ahead of the World Anticorruption Day 2019, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) commemorated urged all stakeholders, including the general public, to take part in this year’s theme of “Together We Fight Against Corruption for Progressive Indonesia.”

KPK Chairman Agus Rahardjo asked government ministries/institutions to commemorate the Anticorruption Day according to the planned program and budget in their respective region/office.

“The concept and the implementation are up to each party as long as they are synergic, efficient, accountable and free of corruption,” Agus told a press conference on Dec. 6.

KPK will hold a series of public events on Dec. 6-13, 2019 to call out the entire shareholders to raise awareness and fighting spirit against corruption, through humanistic approach. The events include B-Side SAKSI album launch, the announcement of the winners of Anticorruption Journalist Competition 2019, anticorruption community workshop, Anticorruption Film Festival (ACFFest) 2019, Anticorruption Nationhood Storytelling, Government Digital Media Festival, Anticorruption Facilitator National Action Meeting, and Regional Advocacy Committee Consolidation Meeting.

The commemoration will peak on Monday (Dec. 9) on KPK’s Supporting Building, which will be attended by leaders of ministries/institutions, regional government heads, communities, and other stakeholders that have taken parts in corruption eradication movement, both independently or in collaboration with KPK.

Agus said corruption prevention is a collective effort. Therefore, KPK cannot work by itself and needs public participation and involvement.

“People have the right to know the progress and achievements of the prevention efforts,” he said.
