The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) facilitated the reconciliation of assets of funding, personnel, infrastructure and document in Papua province. Property assets worth a total of Rp1.3 trillion were managed to be regulated and recorded following authority handover from regency/mayoralty government to provincial government.

KPK Coordinator of Regional VIII for Prevention Coordination and Supervision, Adlinsyah M. Nasution, said KPK also facilitated the regulation and handover of properties worth Rp771 billion. The assets resulted from the expansion of the area of 11 local governments. The handover was done from Sarmi Regency to Mamberamo Raya Regency, Paniai Regency to Intan Jaya Regency and Deiyai Regency, Biak Numori Regency to Supiori Regency, Jayapura Regency to Sarmi, Jayapura Regency to Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency to Kerom Regency, Merauke Regency to Mappi Regency, Merauke Regency to Asmat Regency, Puncak Jaya Regency to Puncak Regency.

KPK also urged for the acceleration of certificate issuance for 1,678 lands proposed by local governments to the National Land Agency through their local offices. As many as 67 properties and 643 office vehicles are still controlled by third parties, retired public officials, and former public officials.

“KPK recommended the settlement of the issue through the issuance of special letter of authority to each district prosecutors office,” said Adlinsyah.

As many as 62 vehicles (49 cars and 13 motorcycles) have been taken from former officials in 13 Papua apparatus organizations.

In terms of local government revenue, KPK team continued to push the governments to optimize their tax income potential. The government of Jayapura managed to collect outstanding tax of Rp5 billion from 13 hotels, restaurants, billboard and entertainment spots in the city. The outstanding tax will be settled within the upcoming one week to three months.

Asset reconciliation and regulation, asset handover, and outstanding tax collection were part of the monitoring and evaluation activities related to corruption prevention coordination and supervision in Papua since Monday (Nov. 11) through weekend, held in Jayapura and several other locations.
